By engaging the next generation of Furniture Framers, Upholsterers and Finishers, the Sulfaro family are ensuring that a healthy viable industry continues here in Melbourne. Sulfaro Furniture offer both Apprenticeships and a Work Experience program (to encourage interested young people to sample working in the industry through a structured industry program).

At Sulfaro, the team take great pride in the production of genuine handcrafted, hand built upholstered furniture. Whether traditional classic in design and style, or modern contemporary aligned with the latest in trends from Europe, one thing remains the same, all furniture is individually crafted from the framing through to the final fabric finishing.

The Sulfaro methodology is pure artisanship using the best in modern equipment in a spacious, well equipped studio and workshop.

The Sulfaro team have continued to adapt the traditional furniture manufacturing techniques first introduced by company founder Nunzio Sulfaro nearly 60 years ago to current requirements.

Buy from large furniture warehouses and what you are selecting is machine made, using robotic equipment. Thousands of the same style and design are manufactured in third world sweatshops in China, India, Malaysia and Indonesia. These are real ‘cookie cutter’ operations supplying the world market with production line furniture offering very little finesse. Materials are substandard in many cases with cheaper fabrics, cushioning and springing delivering a lesser quality product.
