The first of our collections is our Signature Selection. Sulfaro in our minds is in fact the signature of real European Design and Elegance. It was Nunzio Sulfaro, our patriarch who first made selections on what really did represent the true style and refinement found in those key pieces that represent our Signature Selection. It is now his son Santo that continues this tradition. Here is our first Signature Series Edition. Sulfaro Stocktake Sale – Last Week. For inspiration we visit Décor + Design Mel/18

With just over a week to go there is still time to make your selection at the Sulfaro Stocktake Sale. We are open this weekend Saturday and Sunday. This week we preview one of Melbourne’s biggest Interior Design and Furniture events – Décor + Design Mel/18. The show is scheduled for the 19th-22nd of July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The event is all about stimulating design inspiration. It features young and emerging designers through its Vivid program, now in its 15th year. The designers compete and display in Furniture Design, Lighting Design, Object Design and Concept Design. The finalists have been selected and can be viewed at the Décor + Design Mel/18 website. The exhibition is being supervised and curated by the Daniel Dalla Riva Latitude group. Vivid is sponsored by a number of well known design industry entities including Houzz, Living Edge, Inside, Interior Design Review and others.

The popular Design Laneway and Wall St again provide an excellent platform for small studios, textile designers and surface artists to network with the larger players in the industry in an informal relaxed environment.

The Design Laneway enables young and emerging designers the chance to work in with existing Interior Designers and Retailers in a Trade Show environment.

The Wall St display area enables textile designers and surface artists the opportunity to showcase large format visuals to the industry.

Sulfaro and its team highly recommend a visit to the Décor + Design Mel/18 show to anyone looking for ideas and hoping to discover trends in Interior Design, Fabric selections and colour directions for this year.

The London is our opening image. Smart yet casual in a range of fabrics. Here we have a cream cotton finish set off with contrasting cushions.

Also displayed is the ever popular Camelot. Dressed here in darker gold and black finish with Bullion fringe, scatter back cushions and skirting. A traditional lounge suite, the Camelot lifts any room – magnificent.

Furniture trends for 2018-19 – A world of colour

This week let’s take a look at the trends reflected through two major European Furniture Expos – The IMM Cologne show and the Salone del Mobile Milano event, on which we have already reported..

The Lawrence Sofa and Chairs

Let’s start with Cologne and trends in living room design. It’s colour, colour and more colour – a veritable explosion of vibrant hues through all the various trade halls of this famous annual European furniture fair. Sofas, armchairs, occasional chairs and dining chairs were all presented in a wide range of strong living colours, and at this event extended to the tables and lighting. It’s almost exotic, it’s expressive and it’s individual.

It’s often the world of high fashion that defines the direction and tone of the choices made to dress furniture. One bright exuberant piece of furniture can lift a whole room.

Bright and sunny yellows as well as pastel yellows captured the eye continually whilst touring the exhibition halls in Cologne. Designers added accessories in burnt orange, combined with sideboard pads in lush grass green. Greens of all hues were featured by many designers. Pantone – the colour standard – had selected a bright living yellow green as its colour of the year for 2017. This year 2018 the colour selected is Ultra Violet.

The salons of Vienna at the turn of the 20th Century inspired a trend many see continuing into 2018-19 – a combination of deep pine green, Bordeaux red, mustard yellow and royal blue.

Dark woods, brass (replacing copper) with rich satin gold – the brass being brushed, and velvets – all creating a sumptuous splendour in interior design.
