For those fortunate enough to own valuable antique furniture or exquisite period pieces there is always the dilemma as to where to have repairs and restorations completed. Too often it’s only a cosmetic makeover on fabric or leather upholstery when in reality the furniture requires far more substantial restoration. Framing, cushioning, springs and wadding need careful attention and, often, replacement. For this reason it’s best to seek the services of trained Artisans, experts in furniture making – Master Craftsmen. Look no further than the team at Sulfaro. For nearly 60 years Sulfaro have provided unmatched service in the complete restoration of valuable antique and period furniture.

The Skills of the Artisan
At Sulfaro under the guidance of Master Craftsman, Santo Sulfaro, the time honoured skills of furniture making have been maintained and utilised in the creation or rejuvenation of each individual piece of furniture worked upon. Family patriarch, the late Nunzio Sulfaro, received classical training in furniture making in Europe and imparted his refined skills to his son Santo and the entire Sulfaro team. Furniture making and restoration requires skills, genuine care and understanding, working with generational knowledge passed down over centuries.

Repairs and Restoration
To assist our customers we provide a simple process that enables a timely restoration or repair to your cherished antique or period furniture piece. It may well be a family heirloom passed down through the generations that now needs careful work to revitalise and restore it to its former beauty and comfort.
Often we request that you email us a photograph of your furniture for initial assessment on what may be required. If restoration is feasible we then arrange for your furniture to be picked up or delivered to us.
Upon arrival in our modern workshop and studios our expert staff will examine all aspects of the original furniture piece – upholstery, framing, springs, cushioning and, of course, fabrics and leather. The team will then proceed with the restoration after providing you with a conditional report. Upon completion your cherished family heirloom may well be returned to you in even better condition that when it was first manufactured.

As an aside, it’s not unusual for Sulfaro customers to return to us after many years to refresh and refurbish their Sulfaro lounge suites, sofas and chairs. Often it’s simply a change of fabric and/or minor repairs. Sulfaro furniture offers timeless beauty and all workmanship is guaranteed for a lifetime. Call now on 03 9872 4608 for further information or a quotation on your valuable furniture’s restoration and repair.
Time to Renew with Sulfaro

It’s then time to consider replacement. At Sulfaro we offer a huge range of both traditional, classic and modern contemporary furniture for your selection. The Sulfaro Design Team can help you in selecting suitable replacement for your living areas and overall interior design layout. Nothing is left to chance, it really is the complete service.

Sulfaro – 100% Australian Made and Australian Owned
All Sulfaro furniture is created and completed in our modern studios and workshop located in Mitcham, Melbourne – directly behind our extensive showrooms. For 60 years now the Sulfaro team of Artisans have designed and created beautiful furniture under the guidance of Master Craftsmen – the late Nunzio Sulfaro and now his son, Santo Sulfaro. Whenever and wherever possible Australian components and materials are utilised in the manufacture of Sulfaro furniture. Sulfaro are a valubable contributor to a very special industry sector and in purchasing from Sulfaro you are supporting local Artisans, Tradespeople and their families as well as the Australian economy.

Compare this to what occurs in the major retail chains where claims are now being made as to Australian manufacturing. The reality is the furniture there is actually manufactured offshore in Asia – China, Indonesia, Malaysia and India, using automated, robotic processes and cheap labour. The furniture is then shipped to Australia as modular components and the final assembly occurs here, enabling the ‘Australian manufactured’ claim. The reality is most such furniture is 95% completed in offshore factories and your purchase price is remitted to overseas suppliers and foreign economies.
